Ver galería

A simple urban chapel located in Plaza de Andalucía, near City Hall, and dedicated to the Lord of Divine Mercy, a Catholic devotion related to the apparitions of Jesus reported by the Polish nun Faustina Kowalska in the 1930s. The name of niche It gets its name because there used to be a niche in the wall of a house, with a small covered portico partially supported by two columns, which jutted out into the street. It may have been dedicated to another sacred figure.

Today, this small devotional structure has a square floor plan and a façade featuring a semicircular arch, topped by a simple belfry that houses a small bell, crowned by a weather vane on which a cross rests. It has a gable roof. Based on its architectural style, it appears to date from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Inside, there is a small altar flanked by two columns, and above it, a niche housing a small crucifix. It preserves several religious elements and figures, most notably a pictorial representation of the S typeTabat Mater (The Mother Was There), depicting the Virgin Mary and Saint John alongside Christ on the cross; this 18th-century work is attributed to the Granada school.
