This is a monumental complex with a long history that begins in the 14th century, during the Nasrid period, and extends into the 20th century. It consists of three parts: a water well, a large house in the Granada regionalist style, and a garden designed by Jean Claude Nicolás Forestier in 1912, which was designated a Historic Garden in 1943 and is now listed as a Site of Cultural Interest.
The mine and the gardens are open to visitors. The mine is one of the main hydraulic structures of the Nasrid kingdom; it was part of the city’s defensive system, and its capture by Castilian troops played a key role in the conquest of Ronda in 1485.
