The Ojén Viewpoint is one of those places you simply can’t miss when visiting the town. Located in the southwest of the municipality, next to the A-355 highway, it offers spectacular views that leave visitors in awe; as reflected in all the tourist reviews, which highlight the uniqueness of a location that allows visitors to admire the beauty of its white village perched on the mountainside, with residential architecture that makes use of the numerous natural caves in the area, and which was originally a Nasrid farmstead belonging to the lands of nearby Marbella; the grandeur of the natural surroundings, characterized by steep slopes and the boundless Mediterranean Sea, with its blue waters brimming with millennia of history, myths, and legends.
This striking contrast between the mountains and the sea—which seem to plunge straight down into the water—is a geographical feature that characterizes the entire western Costa del Sol region of Málaga and offers travelers a unique and captivating experience.
Among its amenities is an information panel where visitors can discover routes along ancient trails (veredas) that, since time immemorial, have served as a link to the surrounding villages and have been used for traditional crafts related to the use of the natural resources offered by the forest (palm trees, palm hearts, esparto grass, medicinal plants, firewood, and fuel for bread ovens, lime kilns, etc.), as well as the cultivation of grapevines (hence the raisins and its famous brandy), grains, olives, chestnuts, and the harvesting of cork, along with mining resources; and a panel made of glazed tiles depicting the main monuments and streets of Ojén, a project made possible by funds allocated to tourism promotion programs in the Sierra de las Nieves.
Without a doubt, the Ojén Viewpoint is a must-see for anyone who wants to enjoy a unique visual and cultural experience in the region.
