In addition to offering a unique vantage point overlooking the Sierra de las Nieves and the Guadalhorce Valley, with their rich and diverse landscapes, we find ourselves at the heart of Alozaina’s celebrations and festivities, in one of the main symbolic spaces that define the identity of the Pecheros.
Mirador Park was built in the 1950s on the ruins of the old fortress, as was the triple archway at the entrance to the town, to honor the local historical tradition. It is dedicated to the heroine María Sagredo, who resisted the attack by the rebellious Moriscos in 1570 and fiercely defended the town, forcing them to retreat time and time again.
It is the site of the Santiago and Santa Ana festivals in July and the Olive Festival and the Festival of the Sweet Name of María in September. It is also where the story of María Sagredo is reenacted every year, a celebration well worth seeing.
