The historic center of Casarabonela preserves all the elements that defined an Al-Andalus city: an alcazaba, mosques (now converted into churches and chapels), a medina, a defensive wall, suburbs, sarías, and cemeteries outside the city walls.
The neighborhood known as Barrio del Arrabal or Arrabal de la Cancula, bounded by Muro, Saldaña, Cuatro Esquinas, Albaiva, de la Veracruz, Málaga, Bravas, Cancula, and Bajada del Muro streets, is one of the town’s most iconic places; with numerous spots filled with flowers and fountains that are a delight for residents and visitors alike, as well as several niches, religious buildings, and stately 18th-century mansions.
