Also known as the Aloreña Olive Interpretation Center, as it was the first to receive a Protected Designation of Origin. The production area for the variety known as the Aceituna Manzanilla Aloreña de Málaga is located in the southeastern part of the province of Málaga and encompasses a total of 19 municipalities: Alhaurín de la Torre, Alhaurín el Grande, Almogía, Álora, Alozaina, Ardales, El Burgo, Carratraca, Cártama, Casarabonela, Coín, Guaro, Málaga, Monda, Pizarra, Ronda, Tolox, El Valle de Abdalajís, and Yunquera. The area, which constitutes the natural region of the Guadalhorce, is bounded by a mountain range.
A tour of the facility allows visitors to learn about the entire production process: hand-picking (green harvesting), sorting, washing, and traditional seasoning with natural local ingredients (fennel, thyme, garlic, etc.); as well as the pleasure of tasting this true culinary delicacy. Its facilities also offer the possibility of hosting temporary contemporary art exhibitions (for example, the sculptures of Robert Giralde).
This museum project helps preserve rural heritage and pays tribute to olive-growing culture—one of the defining features of Andalusian culture—while promoting sustainable, high-quality tourism.
