The route starts at the Hotel Altos de Istán, next to the water reservoir at the foot of the mountain. From there, take the path that climbs diagonally to the right up to Llano de los Pilones and then—with no clear trail—on to the Currito Pass.

The route continues, passing through several mountain passes and hills: Ventana Pass, Lomilla de Enmedio, Gilito Pass, Gracia León Ravine, Cifuentes Pass, Castillejo Ravine, and Corralillos Pass. In several sections, the trail is barely visible, so it’s best to proceed with caution.

From the Corralillos pass, you begin the final ascent along the ridge until you reach the trail coming from Cruz de Juanar. Turning right, you’ll reach the peak of La Concha (1,215 m), with spectacular views of the Costa del Sol, Gibraltar, the Sierra Nevada, El Torrecilla, and—on clear days—Morocco.

The return trip follows the same route.

Route itinerary

The trail climbs from the area around the hotel toward Llano de los Pilones and Puerto Currito, then continues through a series of small mountain passes and ravines, including Puerto Ventana, Puerto Gilito, Cañada del Castillejo, and Puerto de los Corralillos.

The final stretch climbs along the ridge until it joins the trail coming from Cruz de Juanar and reaches Pico de La Concha. From the summit, you can enjoy spectacular views of the Costa del Sol, Gibraltar, Morocco, the Sierra Nevada, and the Sierra de las Nieves.
