This PR-A trail leads to one of the most spectacular spots in the Río Verde Valley: the Charco del Canalón. The route starts at Plaza del Cha and follows forest trails through orange and avocado groves, crossing several streams and overlapping with the PR-A 166 on some sections.

The route passes through Las Herrizas de la Gallega, a natural viewpoint offering excellent views of the Río Verde, and continues toward the Cornicabra Pass. From there, it descends to the river area, crossing the Bornoque Stream and passing through areas near the Monte Bornoque cork oak forest.

Further along, the trail reaches the Río Verde again. To reach the Charco del Canalón, you must cross the river via the suspension bridge—if it is in good condition—or through the riverbed itself, always with caution and only if the water level allows it. After crossing, a short trail upstream leads to this natural pool, the route’s final destination.

Route itinerary

The trail winds its way through orange groves, avocado trees, and country roads until it reaches Las Herrizas de la Gallega, a natural lookout point overlooking the Río Verde.

The route continues through the Puerto de la Cornicabra, the area around Monte Bornoque, and several streams, until it descends once again to the Río Verde. From there, a final stretch along the riverbed leads to the Charco del Canalón.
