The route begins at Plaza de la Ermita, in the center of Monda, where the statue dedicated to the coal miners of Monda stands. Right from the start, the views of Monda Castle and the fields of olive and almond trees, vegetable gardens, and farmland are striking.
Before leaving the town center, you’ll pass by an old threshing floor where El Calvario is located—an 18th-century religious structure associated with the Stations of the Cross during Holy Week. The trail then passes under the road through a small tunnel and follows the old path toward Alpujata, winding through terraced fields and traditional irrigation ditches.
At the three-way intersection, take the middle path, which winds through olive groves and orchards until it reaches the Morales Spring, highly prized for its iron-rich waters and situated in the shade of a large gall oak.
The trail winds through the town, passes by the 18th-century Calvary, and continues along the old road to Alpujata. Winding through olive groves, almond orchards, vegetable gardens, and traditional irrigation channels, the trail leads to the Fuente de los Morales.
