A loop trail that begins and ends in Puerto Saucillo, accessible by car from Yunquera. The route winds through Spanish fir forests, pine forests, and cedar groves, with spots offering breathtaking views and where visitors can frequently spot birds of prey that nest in the rocky outcrops of the mountain range.

Route itinerary

Starting from Puerto Saucillo—which has a parking lot and a lookout point offering panoramic views of the Guadalhorce Valley—we head uphill through a forest of Spanish firs, soon coming upon the majestic “Candelabro” Spanish fir, a natural monument. The route then passes through a forest of cedars and wild pine trees, both of which are part of a reforestation effort. The descent back to Saucillo follows the ravine and Spanish fir forest of the same name; at the end of the route, you can see a replica of the snow pits that were once common in the mountains centuries ago.
