There couldn’t be a more fitting name for this square, which serves as a balcony overlooking the Guadalhorce Valley. In the past, it was known as Plaza de los Poyos because of the small stone benches at each end where people could sit; since it was a public space where people gathered and sat down to rest.
It serves as a natural viewpoint overlooking the Guadalhorce Valley—the ancient Hoya de Málaga—where, once you look up from the Moorish rooftops, you can see a sea of olive trees and grain fields that speak to us of an intense Roman past, traces of which remain to this day. Beyond that, you can also see the Bay of Málaga and the Homeric Mediterranean Sea.
From this spot, the sunrises are pure poetry.
