Church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, Serrato

The Church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario in Serrato is located on Fuente Street. Although its origins date back to the early 16th century, it has undergone numerous renovations over the years; the most recent one, in 2009, gave it its current appearance.

It is small in size and consists of a single nave with another section attached to it. The simple interior is accessed through a single door at the foot of the structure, which features a lowered arch. On the roof, a simple bell tower houses its single bell.

Inside, the main altar, in its central niche, houses the statue of Serrato’s patron saint: Nuestra Señora del Rosario, depicted holding the Child in her arms. Her veneration originated in 13th-century France, but her widespread popularity is associated with the Battle of Lepanto (1571), in which the Christians emerged victorious—according to tradition, thanks to her intercession. The residents of Cerrate celebrate their festival every October 7.
