Ronda Bullring

Ver galería

This bullring, which was inaugurated in 1785, is one of the oldest and most monumental in Spain. It is owned by the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda, founded by Felipe II in 1572. The arena follows a neoclassical architectural design, featuring a double gallery of segmental arches supported by columns, which lend it its characteristic slenderness and elegance.

This bullring, closely linked to the Romero and Ordóñez bullfighting dynasties, gained international fame thanks to figures such as Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles, who were truly enamored with Ronda and its bullfighting tradition. Since the mid-20th century, it has hosted the colorful Goyescas bullfights, in which bullfighters, banderilleros, and picadors perform dressed in Goyesque costumes, a style of dress that originated in the 18th century.

It is one of the most visited monuments in Ronda and currently houses a bullfighting museum managed by the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda, an institution that also runs a riding school and maintains a historical archive of considerable importance.
