Since 2016, the municipality of Tolox has hosted an international, multidisciplinary art event in September called Art Tolox, featuring both national and international artists. The artists’ canvases—their workspaces—are the walls of the houses, the streets, and the town squares, where they freely express their art through murals, ceramic compositions, sculptures, photography exhibitions, theatrical performances, and more.
This appealing cultural initiative seeks to blend modern art with rural tradition, fostering cultural exchange and helping to boost the local economy. As a result, the town center of Tolox presents itself as an “open-air museum” where the pleasure of strolling through its traditional town center is combined with the enjoyment of all these works of art.
